"Simple" Extraction (Closed Forceps and Elevator Extraction) Competency- X7100
This competency must be completed 3 times on separate patients. There is no required minimum threshold before you can challenge this competency. It can be challenged as soon as you feel comfortable with extractions (at your covering faculty's discretion) and can be completed on any patient that is assigned to you during one of your OS rotation.
The competency consists of the independent extraction of a single tooth on an OS Clinic patient using an elevator and forceps technique.
You must inform your covering faculty that you are challenging your competency prior to the appointment beginning. The X-code can be planned chair-side.
